Samsung’s latest financial forecasts indicate that the mobile division is still far from a positive start. So the company needs to launch more models, counting on increased interest in its products. Another device getting ready for premiere is the Galaxy A8, which we just learned a bit more details.
The Galaxy A8 will be another representative of the mid-range device family targeted at consumers who are not interested in flag models but would still like to have the equipment they need. The product, in line with its design strategy, has a metal case that measures 157.7 mm, 76.7 mm x 5.9 mm. This latter dimension is particularly interesting because it shows that we are dealing with the thinnest smartphone in Samsung’s offer, which will surely be liked by consumers.
They will also be pleased with the technical specs that include a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display displaying 1920 x 1080 pixels at 386 PPI. The heart of the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz with Adreno 405 graphics unit and working with 2 GB of RAM.
The files are allocated 16 GB which can be expanded with microSD card. This will be useful because the user somewhere will have to fit the photos and videos made with the main camera with 16 megapixel camera or selfie made 5 megapixel front camera.
Similarly, in Samsung flagship models, we also expect a fingerprint reader built into the Home button, and the hardware functionality will provide Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
This is the third cosmic delay in a week. According to the RIA agency, Russian experts have again republished the start of such an important prestigious for Moscow and Vladimir Putin himself “Angara” rocket.
The first flight was planned for the previous Wednesday, after which the flight was postponed to Friday. Yesterday at the final countdown in the spaceport in Plesiecko turned out, however, that the rocket “Angara1,2 PP” strangely vibrate. According to Russian engineers, this automatic safety system has prevented the start. They added that the rocket would be removed from the launch pad and subjected to technical analysis.
The environmentally-friendly “Angara” rockets, which are to be launched into orbit of various types of satellites, are produced from the beginning to the end in Russia and are the eyes of Moscow. They are supposed to support the currently used “Soyuz” and replace, among other things, the “Proton” missiles, which had a lot of malfunction.
Russians are also building a new space base in eastern Russia to become independent of the Baikonur spaceport in Kazakhstan.
Northrop YB-35 is one of the most important aircraft in aviation history, while the aircraft remained only prototype, but was the first “full-blood” combat aircraft built in the wings. It is this machine that laid the foundations for the development of modern American strategic bombers (and all indications are that also future ones). Although it has been over 70 years since its inception, the machine is still impressive.
The YB-35 is a four-engined, heavy-duty American strategic propeller bomber. The span of its wings was over 50 meters, and the machine was able to take just over seven tons of bombs aboard. Developed since 1941, the design was eventually not put into service, and the contract for more than 200 machines broke off.
However, this does not mean the end of this construction, after its first flights in 1946-47, its potential was recognized. The biggest problems of the prototypes were the propellers that propelled the structure into vibration and were the source of flight instability, thus the decision of the US aviation to exchange propeller units to jet and rebuild the entire engine.
American companies increasingly focus on renewable energy, using it to power their server rooms, stores and campuses. It’s primarily Apple, but Google does not want to be worse and its Mountain View campus is also planning to use wind energy.
The Altamost Pass is a very windy place and is used by power companies, with hundreds of wind turbines in place. A completely new project will soon start on this site, where 770 existing turbines will be replaced by 48 brand new models with significantly improved performance.
Google has already announced that it intends to buy half of the energy it wants to use to power the entire corporate campus located at Mountain View headquarters.
The power supply agreement was signed for 20 years, and its implementation will be dealt with by Next Era, which has been working with Google for some time. Power supplies will begin from 2016 and will be 43 MW per year.
At CES 2010, which starts January 7 in Las Vegas, Nvidia has finally officially unveiled the long awaited GF100 graphics processor.
Although so far, the graphics processor in the new Fermi architecture has appeared in the network several times, these were unofficial announcements or fake premieres. At the CES 2010, Nvidia will officially announce the GF100 GPU, the first powerful GPU built with 40nm technology, supporting DirectX 11 and Fermi architecture.
The graphics card that the Californian producer will show in Las Vegas should not be different from the sample seen in the photo next, and it will also feature 512 CUDA stream processors, a 384-bit memory bus, and SLI support. Let’s hope that during the Nvidia presentation will reveal more technical details and perhaps present the first performance test of the new card.
Sony constantly refreshes its consoles by introducing its newer, more improved version. Some time ago, the second generation of the PlayStation 4, the CUH-1200 model, which tests results, is much quieter than its predecessor and consumes less power.
The CUH-1200 was initially available mainly in Japan, but it is also beginning to appear in the United States and Europe, but so far in limited numbers. It is worth remembering that if you want to buy a new generation, you will not find it for the time being in the sets offered with the games.
What is the difference between the new model and the predecessor? Several modifications have been introduced, but the biggest is the reduction of electricity consumption, which results in less heat. And that in turn makes the device much quieter, because the fan does not have to work so hard anymore.
The difference in noise level between the two generations is illustrated by the video below. The older model (CUH-1004a) generates noise of up to 75 dB, so the console is quite audible. The new generation is only 62 dB, which is definitely quieter.
Tesla Motors, after the recent presentation of its first X-model SUV, is now planning to launch its first affordable model 3 car. The company announced that the car will have its official debut on March 31st and will be shown at a special event in Los Angeles.
Tesla, which has succeeded in popularizing electric vehicles, is increasingly expanding its offerings. The American company recently unveiled its first model X SUV, equipped with an unusual door-opening system, and is now planning to show the world the long-awaited Model 3.
The event will take place in Los Angeles on March 31 and is especially important for the company, as Model 3 will be Elona Muska’s first car to be priced at a more affordable price. For the Model S you have to pay about 100 thousand dollars, while the basic version of the Model 3 cost is in the range of 35 thousand dollars and without the government subsidies, after which the new car will become really attractive to the buyer.
The manufacturer ensures that during the event the prototype of the car is displayed, so journalists will be able to take a short ride to assess their capabilities.
Microsoft is aggressively promoting its latest operating system Windows 10. The company wants even people who do not want to update their OS to “dozens” do so as soon as possible. What’s more, it largely limits the performance of applications that block upgrade notifications that the user simply does not want to see.
The pace of market adoption of Windows 10 is really big, which obviously has to do with the free system update for users of legitimate copies of Windows 7 and Windows 8. However, there are people who do not intend to change to newer software and are fully satisfied with the currently used OS. The problem is that with this option is not satisfied with Microsoft itself.
Josh Mayfield, the person responsible for the GWX Control Panel program that blocks updates, reports that the Redmond company has begun to circumvent its mechanism. Application users complain that it increasingly does not work. Microsoft, without asking permission, changes system settings to prompt the update to be visible to people again. Significantly, it is even displayed to users who have previously indicated that they do not want to see it.
